Some of the verses of the Qurʿān have drawn the attention of the exegetes of the Qurʿān during the time, or the exegetes look at them have changed through the history. One of these verses is the verse 34 of surah an-Nisa, which deals with the “Ghavvamiat” of the men over the women. Considering the movements, which aim at the equality of the womenʿs rights with that of the men as a new discourse of the contemporary period, we can explain the Changes in the interpretations provided for this verse and the impact of social changes and new discourse on the interpretation of the Ḳurʾān. Using comparative - historical analysis, this paper examines the initial part of the verse and finally concluded that contemporary commentators, contrary to early ones, have been criticized the cause of revelation of this verse, and pointed out the limits of the “Ghavvamiat” and limits of menʿs advantages over women, and even some of the advantages of women on men. also, the volume of interpretation proposed by contemporaries is much more than early ones and indicates their efforts to answer some questions and focus on this verse regarding the discourse of contemporary period about women.
