Traditional exegesis (tafsīr) has relied on classical Islamic disciplines such as ḥadīth, linguistics, and historical context, while contemporary scholarship increasingly engages with modern hermeneutical and interdisciplinary approaches. The Journal of Critical Studies in Quranic Exegesis (JCSQE) bridges these methodologies, fostering a rigorous academic space where classical Islamic sciences intersect with modern theoretical frameworks—including hermeneutics, semantics, anthropology, archaeology, and semiotics. The Journal of Critical Studies in Quranic Exegesis (JCSQE) is an open-access scientific journal that is published by the University of Quranic Sciences and Education (Mashhad University of Quranic Sciences) as a Quran-based university and the only specialized university in the field of Quranic Sciences and Education in Iran. This publication was founded with the aim of developing the studies of interpretation and the method of understanding the verses of the Holy Quran and providing the basis for the publication of studies by professors, researchers and researchers, focusing on the field of interpretation and with the approach of criticizing interpretation opinions. Scholars, professors, and researchers can send their scientific works to the journal office according to the fields and research axes of the journal.
The research journal publishes commentary reviews of scientific-research articles in print and online, and the financial support of all the stages of publishing the article is the responsibility of the University of Sciences and Education of the Holy Quran.
