Abstract
This study reexamines the Quranic concept of muhayminah (Q. 5:48) as an analytical tool for distinguishing inspired layers from doctrinal distortions in gospel narratives of Jesusʾ miracles. Adopting a descriptive-analytical method and drawing on Quranic exegesis, canonical and non-canonical gospels, the research develops three criteria: (1) the presence or absence of bi-idhniʾllāh (by God's permission) as the source of miracles; (2) compatibility with monotheistic and rational principles; and (3) the Qurʾan's explicit affirmation or meaningful silence. The findings show that the Qurʾan affirms shared miracles but reframes them within a monotheistic framework through bi-idhniʾllāh. It also affirms a miracle (speaking in the cradle) found only in non-canonical gospels, while remaining silent regarding others (e.g., water into wine). This selective pattern demonstrates that muhayminah functions not merely as a protective attribute but as an evaluative methodology for identifying authentic prophetic traditions. The study concludes by proposing a model for criterion-based comparative scripture analysis, with implications for Abrahamic interfaith dialogue.
